History:
Forlenza Architecture was established in 1988 by Dan Forlenza, Architect. From 1988 to 1999 Forlenza Architecture specialized in transforming our client’s ideas into reality. Forlenza Architecture focused primarily on high end residential additions, renovations, and new homes on Long Island during our first 10 years while located in Merrick, New York. In 1999 Dan took a position as the design architect for Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and developed an extraordinary portfolio that includes a variety of work for the university from 1999 to 2008, as well as private residential projects in the Ithaca, New York area during that time period. Then in 2007 Forlenza Architecture established a design studio in the Central Catskill Mountain region located in Denver, New York. In late 2008 Columbia University hired Dan as their Associate Director of Design and Capital Project Management for the Morningside Heights Campus in New York City. In 2009 Forlenza Architecture opened its newest office located on the Upper Westside of New York City.
Philosophy:
Architecture is more than just a solution to functional requirements. Some requirements are obvious and fundamental to
the way we live, work, and enjoy our lives. Architecture should also transform the human spirit, be inspirational, and evoke
a positive emotional response. The filtration of natural light, the hierarchy of spaces, balance, the significance
of human scale, the interrelationships of forms, and the creation of the sense of delight; are all important aspects of superior
architecture, but all can be quite difficult to define and understand. When we experience great spaces that implement
all of these features we intuitively know that something is special and different. Forlenza Architecture’s goal is to design
spaces and buildings that combine these aspects and it will be obvious that what has been created is special, unique and inspirational.
